01 Ensuring Safety
Safeguarding Measures
Awake Health Care prioritises safety through robust safeguarding systems, processes, and practices. We conduct thorough Disclosure Bureau Service (DBS) checks and verify references to rule out any safeguarding issues before hiring staff. Ongoing monitoring ensures that staff requiring new DBS checks are identified promptly.
Documentation
Proper documentation is maintained, serving as vital communication among care providers. Staff are trained to secure the environment, keeping clients away from risky items, and ensuring the prevention of injuries.
Staff Training
Our staff undergo comprehensive training during induction and regular sessions, ensuring awareness of safety protocols. Training encompasses safeguarding issues, the latest care methods, and techniques to uphold the highest safety standards.
Sufficient Staffing
Awake Health Care ensures adequate staffing with experienced and knowledgeable individuals to meet the diverse care needs of our clients.
Risk Assessment
An ongoing process for risk assessment, safety monitoring, and management is in place. Risk assessment tools guide staff in recording and reporting concerns promptly. Routine audits are conducted within set time frames, ensuring immediate intervention if needed.
Equipment Maintenance
Where needed, equipment, such as hoists, will be regularly checked, maintained, and serviced by following a systematic schedule. Adequate space will be planned for lifting equipment, and checks for any faulty electrical equipment are part of our ongoing safety measures.
02 Ensuring Effectiveness
Review and Evaluation
Effectiveness is gauged through regular reviews and evaluations of care. Accurate documentation aids in identifying positive outcomes and areas for improvement.
Evidence-Based Approach
We employ evidence-based care approaches aligned with national health policies and care quality service guidance. Staff receive ongoing training and development to deliver high-quality care.
Client Engagement
Client and family engagement is encouraged through feedback sessions, ensuring expectations are met. Regular training equips staff to identify triggers for changes in client conditions, managing situations calmly.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Clear documentation of client needs is maintained for other healthcare teams. Referrals to occupational therapists or physiotherapists are made when needed, ensuring holistic care.
Commitment to care is a promise to uplift, support, and cherish the well-being of others, embodying a steadfast dedication to compassion, empathy, and unwavering support in every moment of need.
03 Ensuring Caring Service
Values and Empathy
Awake Health Care follows the values of safety, dignity, independence, privacy, and communication. Staff are well-trained to embody these values, creating a caring environment for clients.
Dignity in Delivery
Dignity is upheld through personalised care, respecting uniqueness, privacy, and choices. Caregivers are educated to be respectful and compassionate, particularly during sensitive tasks.
Client Engagement and Choice
Engaging with clients and families, understanding their choices, and respecting individual preferences through personalisation of care fosters a sense of self-respect.
Privacy and Social Activities
Privacy is prioritised, with respect shown through simple gestures like knocking. We also encourage participation in social activities, respecting the client's choice to engage or not.
04 Ensuring Well-Led Service
Person-Centred Care
Awake Health Care's directors and management ensure high-quality, person-centred care. Care plans align with health policies and laws, promoting consistent adherence to quality standards.
Quality Assurance
Quality assurance systems, including audits and supervision/inspection, are in place. Risk assessments are conducted at the start of care to enable early intervention.
Positive Culture
A positive, person-centred, inclusive, and empowering culture is fostered. Clients and their relatives actively participate in planning their care.
Responsibility and Transparency
Taking the lead, we instil a sense of responsibility among staff, training them in the duty of candour, openness, and honesty. Reporting to relevant agencies, including Care Quality Commission (CQC), is ensured if anything goes wrong.
